Congratulations, You've Just Graduated to the Next Year

Aqua dress & jacket, DKNY tights, Etsy and Aldo rings, Forever21 necklace worn as garter, awkward expression = all me
Much like the rest of 2010, last night flew by.  My first NYE in L.A. did not disappoint, and I am so fortunate to have found amazing friends with whom to celebrate such occasions out here.

In lieu of channeling Marchesa, as originally planned, I ended up going with a snake print dress and an equally scaly sequin blazer for the evening's festivities.  My visions of donning a body chain were replaced with visions of draping a garter-like chain around my thigh. Amazing in theory...not so much in practice.  I was fussing with it too much to wear it beyond my apartment, but I feel a DIY project coming up.  I am determined to make the chain garter work in time for warmer weather.

I'll wrap this up with the warmest of wishes for a happy, healthy, and stylish 2011.  Make it happen this year, people!

Some Holiday Dressing For Your Salad

November is in full swing, and the holiday party invites are starting to come in. I think I had my holiday party attire planned from the moment I saw Marchesa's SS11 collection (and wrote about it here). Since then, I've been daydreaming of a jumpsuit/bolero/body harness combo for my next yuletide soiree.

I did some recon on Shopstyle today and came up with a couple of options for a great inspired by Marchesa moment. Check 'em out:

Option 1: All about the harness. Nothing can really compare to Marchesa's elegant web of body jewelry, but there are a ton of awesome options to sift through on Etsy

Whiting & Davis, Elizabeth and James, Vero Moda

Elizabeth & James sandals, ASOS jumpsuit, Whiting & Davis minaudiere, Foley+Corinna bolero, Dmetal harness (avail on Etsy)

Option 2: This version is a bit more opulent than the last. And how amazing is this Judith Leiber birdcage minaudiere?  Her pieces are so beautiful, and there really is one for every personality/taste/style/woman. Can she please do a designer collab with some major retailer, so that I can get my hands on even a fraction of this amazingness?

I'm heading into some uncharted territory by choosing a jumpsuit into this year's holidaywear, but I think the holidays are a perfect time  to play around with your look.  With so much festivity and excitement in the air, it's hard to keep from incorporating some of that into your attire!

The Freaks Come Out at Night

In some respect, I think I am still recovering from the whirlwind that was Halloween weekend.  That's my lame excuse for posting these photos so late.  My first L.A. Halloween was a success, though. I can officially check the box on attending the W. Hollywood Carnival, an experience that will not soon be forgotten.

This year I decided to switch up my costume for each night out.  I'm a big fan of using the contents of my closet to create Halloween looks, which isn't hard to do, considering the amount of black clothing and sparkly jewels I own.

Friday: VAMPire

Had to share a close-up of my fangs.  It takes a lot to keep from wearing them outside of Halloween dress-up!

Saturday Night: Rachel & Brad

I loved both of my costumes this year, but RZ + Brad take the cake because, for the first time ever, Chris agreed to do a couples costume.  Doesn't he make a great Brad to my Rachel?

I hope everyone enjoyed their Halloween this year!

The Sunnies Side of Life + A Halloween Treat

It has been far too long since I've a) done any legitimate shopping and b) added to my collection of sunnies. I have been OBsessing over round, half-tint sunglasses ever since my fashion faves started rockin' the Chanel version a few years back.

Rachel Zoe, another of my fashion inspirations, repeatedly sports a different - and equally great - version of the round sunnies (vintage, of course).

Last week, I finally found the PERFECT pair of round sunnies for the PERFECT price on EtsyEven Raggy has taken a liking to them.  They really bring out her inner Iris Apfel! I think  she's ready for Halloween, don't you?

What are you dressing as this Halloween? I can't wait to share photos of my costume with all of you.  Whatever your costume, I hope you have a fun and fabulous weekend of Halloween celebrations!

Going To Great Lengths

JS Boutique dress, H&M faux fur stole, Aldo heels, misc jewels
Last night we attended a cocktail party that was hosted by two new friends. The pieces I chose to wear to last night's gathering embody everything I  love for an evening look: fur, length, and a touch of the bohemian.

This faux fur stole was one of the best accessory purchases I made last year. It has the ability to infuse excitement into any look, and it offers just the right amount of warmth for an L.A. fall evening.

My ensemble selections also turned out to be quite practical since the party was held on a rooftop terrace (something I had completely forgotten when getting dressed), and the weather got quite chilly toward the end; thank goodness for my stole!
